There are over 500 works currently held in the Collection dating from the 1840s to the present day but to give a flavour of the collection and to describe the various ages of Scottish Art History the artists been selected into the following art groups: The Glasgow Boys; The Edinburgh School; The Kirkcudbright School; The Scottish Colourists; Modern Scottish Painting and Contemporary Art and Historical from, or connected to Dumfries & Galloway.
